Dungog Festival Featuring Tim Rogers, The Paper Kites, Husky & Meg Mac
The Dungog Festival is excited to announce an impressive line up of artists who will be performing on their music program for 2014!
Legendary You Am I front man Tim Rogers will bring his solo show to Settlers Arms Hotel on Friday August 29. An Australian music icon, Tim has released ten critically acclaimed studio albums to date via various creative collaborations as well as solo efforts, three of which debuted at #1 on the ARIA charts. He has multiple ARIA awards, multiple platinum selling LPs, and a bubbling career in acting with two indie films released in 2013.
On Saturday night, Dungog High School hall will host another great evening of entertainment, presenting The Paper Kites, Husky and Meg Mac!
Melbourne’s folk-favourites The Paper Kites have been on a whirlwind journey – a headline and sell-out tour of the USA and Canada since they released their startling debut album ‘States‘. Hotly anticipated since the release of their bedroom recorded and homespun EPs, the record went on to hit #17 on the ARIA Charts – and their live shows are just as mesmerizing, the five-piece are set to perform their much loved older tracks and most popular songs fresh from two sold out shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre earlier this year.
Fellow Melbournians, Husky bring their enchanting folk-inspired sounds to Dungog Festival in 2014. Unearthed by triple j, the ARIA nominated, APRA award winners have toured with Neil Young, Gotye, Mumford and Sons and many more, as well as headline shows across Europe, USA, UK and here in Australia. They are putting the finishing touches on their third LP that is set to be released later this year.
At only twenty-three years old Meg Mac manages to capture a timeless sound with her blend of dark-neo-soul. Championed by triple J from her debut single ‘Known Better’ she garnered an international audience with her debut and self-titled EP and her national tour has drawn rave reviews for her powerful songwriting and beautifully simplistic take on pop.
The Dungog Festival, a new event for The Hunter showcasing film, food, music and local community, will be held for the first time from 28 to 31 August this year, and is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. The event will showcase Australian and international films, with a program of food, music and community events providing a complete cultural experience in the beautiful surrounds of the Hunter Valley.
The Dungog Festival will be held in Dungog 28- 31 August 2014. Tickets are on sale now.
