The Mark Of Cain Tour Of Duty 2015

The Mark Of Cain Tour Of Duty 2015

Way back in 2006, five years after their previous national tour John Scott: singer / songwriter and guitarist with Adelaide’s The Mark Of Cain declared; “We’re going to tour once a year, or twice if we can – we want to play”.

Unfortunately it didn’t quite work out that way. The band instead taking a further seven-year sabbatical from live performance while drummer John Stanier drifted off to play with his other bands Battles and Tomahawk and John and Kim Scott returned to the workforce, valiantly writing and rehearsing in the after hours what would ultimately become their fifth album, the superlative-laden critical-fave: Songs Of The Third And Fifth.

The Mark of Cain’s fifth studio album sounds every bit as impactful and exciting as their first, which is no small feat given that 1989’s Battlesick is considered by many to be a classic. It’s the same old TMOC only leaner, meaner and amazingly after all these years, even more convincing. A career high point.” 4.5 stars Rolling Stone Magazine

That was then, however, since that albums release in November 2012, The Mark Of Cain have remained committed to that earlier promise performing a sold-out national tour in 2013, a follow-up album tour in 2014 (featuring even more sold-out shows) and select one-off performances in their hometown of Adelaide. In November – December 2015 the promise stays alive the with The Mark Of Cain ‘Tour Of Duty’. The 2015 tour takes in the usual hot spots: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth plus the band’s first visit to Geelong in this century! The tour will also feature a mid-week two night residency at Adelaide’s Enigma Bar with all proceeds going to Cancer Council Australia. TMOC bassist Kim Scott explains:

Having lost family members, friends and work colleagues to cancer in the past, I thought it was time to personally do something about cancer – not only to raise awareness, but also to do something directly to help fund cancer research. As everyone knows, cancer doesn’t discriminate and we are all potentially only a doctors appointment away from hearing those life changing words. In January 2016, I will ride with the Beat Cancer Tour team at the Tour Down Under – it allows me to combine my passion for cycling with raising funds for the Cancer Council SA, who do an outstanding job in converting every dollar that is donated to four dollars of research.

Local acts Subtract S and InWoods will join The Mark Of Cain on the respective Adelaide shows. Elsewhere TMOC will be joined by a legion of some of the countries best heavy hitters including Thorax, Making, Batpiss and Greig. Tickets for all shows go on-sale Monday 21st September.

Don’t miss the greatest live band in the land, The Mark Of Cain ‘Tour Of Duty’ this November – December.
