Fraser A. Gorman Album & Tour
Fraser A. Gorman’s story is a captivating one. A 23 year old kid who looks like a teenage Bob Dylan, a full time carpenter obsessed with the history of American rock n’ roll, expressing himself through wry poetry, bent tropicalia, country-soul and rock.
A core member of Courtney Barnett’s Milk! Records label, and a self-described serial collaborator, having performed and/or recorded with the likes of King Gizzard, Davey Lane, Courtney Barnett and Jen Cloher among others, Fraser Alexander Gorman cuts a dash entirely his own.
After releasing a flurry of singles and an EP since 2012, now Fraser Alexander Gorman’s collection of cool-as-fuck, funny, heartfelt and super-infectious tunes have finally come to fruition on his debut album titled ‘SLOW GUM’ – which will be released in Australia through Milk! Records and Caroline on Monday June 29th.
Following on from the gorgeous, sardonic, downbeat witticisms of his last single “Book of Love”, Fraser A. Gorman is set to release a second track from the forthcoming album, returning with another irresistible slice of sun-baked, cracked-heart heaven in the form of “Broken Hands”.
It’s lackadaisical charms belie Gorman’s wryly affecting way with a lyric however, as he sings tongue-in-cheek couplets such as ‘I got no soul/ cos country music sounds to me like rock and roll’ over gorgeous slide guitar and warmly offbeat melodies.
A stirring diary entry about rock music and vulnerability in the 21st Century ‘Broken Hands’ is just another example of why the debut album from Fraser A Gorman is definitely one to get excited about. ‘Broken Hands’ will be available Friday May 1st.
“Oh! To be what it sounds to be Fraser A. Gorman” – The Line Of Best Fit
“First signs of Fraser A. Gorman’s new music are very good indeed” – NME
“Like a more optimistic Cass McCombs, a blue eyed take on alt-country” – Consequence Of Sound
“Melancholy country folk with a distinct 1970’s vibe” – THE SUN (UK)
With live shows that have grown in a short time from intimate to majestic both here and in the UK, a new single and companion video ‘BROKEN HANDS’, growing international buzz and, most excitingly, his much-anticipated debut album “SLOW GUM” due for release this coming June, 2015 looks set to be a break out year for Fraser A Gorman.
To co-incide with the release of his debut album, you can catch Fraser A Gorman launching ‘Slow Gum’ around the country this coming July.
