Only 10 Days Until 25th Anniversary Bluesfest

The countdown is on to the 25th Anniversary Bluesfest, Australia’s multi award winning five day festival, held over the Easter long weekend (17th -21st of April) at its home, the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, north of Byron Bay.

2014 Bluesfest

Unlike recent events in the Australian music scene, Bluesfest ticket sales are going through the roof and it is expected the Friday and Saturday of the event could sell out prior to the event. The long range weather forecast is for no rain and the site with all its recent improvements, including a slip lane from the motorway direct into the site, is ready for the music fans to congregate on the fields of the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm.

It is only ten days until the five day fiesta of incredibly diverse music begins, from prolific musicians such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson and Buddy Guy to the contemporary Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros, Devendra Banhart, Iron & Wine and Jake Bugg to Australian favourites John Butler Trio, Matt Corby, Kasey Chambers and Troy Cassar-Daley just to name a few. The history of the 25th Anniversary will also be represented with musicians Charlie Musselwhite and The Paladins, who played at the first ever festival and will be returning to the Bluesfest stage.

The first of the Bluesfest Touring artists will be arriving in the country early this week to begin their Bluesfest sideshows. Powerhouse singer-songwriter Beth Hart is one of the first to arrive and US Soul sensation Allen Stone, Suzanne Vega and Morcheeba also begin their tours this week. Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band and The Grandmothers of Invention featuring original Mothers will also arrive later this week for their first ever Australian tour.

Peter Noble, Festival Director had this to say:

We expect our 25th festival to be our best one yet, everyone is so excited, in a troubled festival season with slow ticket sales and far too many artist cancellations – we expect to have at least our equal biggest attendance in the history of the event and every advertised artist to appear. We are proud to be presenting what we strongly believe is the best bill of artists we have ever produced.

Peter Noble adds;

Bluesfest, which in the past 12 months has won the Helpmann Award as Australia’s Best Festival, the Australian Event Award as Australia’s Best Regional Event, The NSW Tourism Award as New South Wale’s Best Major Event and was nominated as a finalist in the Pollstar Awards for Best International Festival for the second year in a row – losing to the world’s largest festival  – the Glastonbury Festival – has gone from strength to strength.

Peter Noble – Bluesfest’s Director also received the Rolling Stone Award for his contribution to the music industry – which he sees as an acknowledgement to the Roots music movement and his involvement in it for many decades.
