Parx-E Volume 4
Unveiling a variety of talented famale artists, Parx-E Volume 4 is a sprawling 21 track compilation covering a wide range of musical styles.
Promoting artists selected by brainchild Chris Parkes, the disc comprises of contributors from Australia, Canada and the U.S.
Opening the album is Australia’s own Steph Hannah with the gospel soul of ‘Eat The Crumbs‘. The trip hop of Luststruck from Melbourne’s Deja follows, thus setting the tone for a varied unpredictable adventure. Silver Cities and Canada’s Heather Longstaffe deliver a more straight up eighties rock sound before the soothing ambience of Manor is upon us via ‘Architecture‘. Girl Pilot provides a dollop of stripped back folk, a sultry Samara some jazzy piano and Amanda McCarthy a spot of whiskey drenched country. This is but a small reflection on what is on offer over the seventy plus minutes of music.
With no tangible link between artists other than gender, Parx-E Volume 4 assures the listener a wealth of variety. With so many performers it is impossible to comment on every track but overall the genre hopping nature of the CD makes for a worthwhile listen.
