Claws And Organs New EP And East Coast Tour

Claws & Organs’ dedication to intense, visceral and passionate live shows stems back from the band’s beginning.

Formed onstage at the iconic Tote Hotel by drummer Nicholas Hart and guitarist/vocalist David Crowe, the band has only stepped up their performance game over the years, consistently delivering hard-hitting fuzzed out tunes straight in your face.

The addition of Heather Thomas saw the band retain its harder edge, but added an moodier, softer element, helping define the band’s loud/quiet/loud dynamic.

In keeping with the band’s commitment to live performance, Claws & Organs’ first EP, Nothing To Learn, was recorded live at a blistering pace on a hot February day at the John Curtin Hotel by 8 Bit Love frontman, Vito Lucarelli in 2013. The recording drew praise from various sources across Australia, calling the band the next Mudhoney (Ryan Saar, Soundly Sounds) and full of live energy (Soundproof Kennel).

After refining the live shows at venues across the east coast, the band returned to the studio in early 2014, this time to Head Gap (Courtney Barnett, Violent Soho) with Neil Thomason (Jen Cloher, Augie March) in charge of engineering and mixing duties for their follow up EP, I Am Scum And Nobody Should Love Me. Further demonstrating their tight dynamic and strong work ethic, the band recording their sophomore EP in only two days. While retaining the rawness of Nothing To Learn, the second EP added a darker, shoegaze-inspired element, marking the next step in the band’s development.

The band released the first taste of the new material, Bite My Lip to packed out band rooms in Melbourne, Sydney and Ballarat in May 2014. With Heather switching out her bass for a guitar and David donning a vintage archtop to fill in the low tones, the song shows the band at its most innovative.

The band will release the full EP, I Am Scum And Nobody Should Love Me on Friday, October 3rd and play shows nationally to support the release.
