Lily Allen Melbourne & Sydney Headline Shows Next Month + Allday Announced As Support
As Britain’s charismatic leading lady of indie pop prepares for her headline Australian shows and appearance at Splendour In The Grass next month, Lily Allen can confirm 22 year old rapper, Allday, as the support for her Melbourne Festival Hall show on Thursday 24 July and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Friday 25 July.
Hailing from Blackwood, Adelaide and now based in Melbourne, Allday is tearing up the Australian hip hop scene and ARIA Charts with a fresh perspective, clear wit and charm, balancing smooth melodies and a unique delivery. His debut album Startup Cult (available Friday 4 July through We Are Unified) fuses soul music, indie rock and classic hip hop influences. Signed to Illy’s label OneTwo, the album’s first single ‘Right Now’ was released last month to great acclaim and when Allday takes the stage he is equally lauded:
‘His raw voice and funky beats set the tone for the night and got the crowd buzzing.’ – TheMusic.com.au
No stranger to the live circuit, Allday has played Big Day Out, St Kilda Festival, Pushover, Come Together, Groovin’ The Moo and Sprung Festival along with supporting the likes of Illy, Thundamentals and Yelawolf. These live shows, multiple mixtapes and the release of his debut EP Noue Yesue has captured triple j’s attention with track ‘So Good’ landing squarely at #91 on the triple j 2012 Hottest 100.
‘Allday’s strength lies in flow as he rides over bouncy commercial beats including taking some already-established ones like The Throne’s ‘Niggas in Paris’ and Lil’ Wayne’s ‘A Mill’ and making them his own with impressive verses.’ – TheAUReview.com
Only weeks away from heading down under, LiIy is offering her ‘unofficial’ World Cup song ‘Bass Like Home‘ for free with supply of an email address: https://form.warnerartists.com/html/lilyallen/basslikehomedld/ Co-written by Kid Harpoon ‘Bass Like Home‘ doesn’t feature on her new album, Sheezus. More an ode to Britannia, a soccer anthem Allen sings of her love for all things England including Shakespeare, John Lennon, the Queen and lager.
Don’t miss Sheezus herself in Sydney and Melbourne alongside Allday next month!
