Kingswood Announce Sydney & Melbourne Club Shows

Melbourne rockers KINGSWOOD today announce they will be performing a series of surprise, pop-up club shows in Sydney and Melbourne this week.

The Lansdowne Hotel (Thursday, June 29) and Yah Yah’s (Friday, June 30) are set to be treated to some very special, up-close-and-personal gigs, with tickets being strictly limited for these intimate venues. Fans are advised to act quick as these will not last long!

After packing out venues across Australia earlier this on their largest tour to date, including Sydney’s Metro Theatre and not one, but two shows at Melbourne’s 170 Russell, KINGSWOOD have also extended their national album tour to Tasmania and regional NSW. Not to mention the Melbourne lads are also set to take the stage at this year’s Splendour In The Grass alongside fellow rock heavyweights Queens Of The Stone Age and Royal Blood.

“’Atmosphere’, it features a rubbery funk beat with distorted guitar and a big, soaring chorus.” – triple j

“It’s hard to imagine the Aussie rock scene in 2017 without Kingswood.” – The Brag

“Down decibels, up blue notes on hard rockers’ radical reinvention… It’s bold notice of a soulful departure from the twisted metallic edges of the Melbourne art-rockers’ 2015 debut.” – 4 Stars, Rolling Stone

“The fact that Kingswood has made such an experimental move will surprise a lot of music lovers… you’ll be very thankful that they were brave enough to go in this direction.” – Heavy Mag

Just last week KINGSWOOD released ‘Atmosphere’, the third official single to be lifted from their new album After Hours, Close To Dawn, which is out now via Dew Process. ‘Atmosphere’, with its fuzzy, space–age sway and swagger was added straight to the triple j playlist and follows in the footsteps of huge singles ‘Creepin’ (which came in at #48 in the Hottest 100 2016) and the sexy, slow jam, ‘Golden’.

The new video for ‘Atmosphere’ was directed by Matt Campbell of ‘Some Motherfucker’s Gotta Pay’ notoriety, who also directed the video for ‘Golden’. The playful clip was shot at the historic Longuevue Mansion in Kenthurst, NSW. Kingswood songwriter and guitarist Alex Laska says, “The Atmosphere video is a play on the most basic principles, unity and togetherness contrasting against light and shade. We wanted to create something in the realms of a Disney or animated children’s movie where the most ernest elements revolve around basic human concepts, whilst the production is usually unbelievable. In our case, the production was a backyard soldering job and some LED lighting set amongst the wondrous backdrop of the Longuevue”.

The band’s recently released, second ARIA Top 10 album, After Hours, Close To Dawn was named in Rolling Stone Australia’s 50 Most Anticipated Albums of 2017, as well as The Herald Sun’s Biggest New Albums in 2017, and sees KINGSWOOD move to the frontline of innovators in Australian music. It mixes compelling R’n’B grooves with soaring rock & roll, garage soul and space-age experimentation. It’s an eclectic collection of music, but it’s all connected by the defining element that is the trio’s creative DNA. No matter what shape they take, these songs are still instantly recognizable as pure KINGSWOOD.
