Longstanding Melbourne metal act, Dreadnaught released their first album in a decade on July 22 this year.

Dreadnaught’s last release was their self-titled album in 2009 and whilst having over six years between drinks, their fans were as eager as ever to get their hands on new material.
The bands pre-sale Pozible campaign to raise funds to record exceeded its target by 10%!
Caught The Vultures Sleeping was the first Dreadnaught album pressed on vinyl!
Formed in 1992 the Melbourne five-piece have been a cornerstone of the Australian heavy music scene for a quarter of a century. Continually evolving and re-inventing themselves, their unique sound has kept their fans captivated since their first self released album, 1996’s Body.Blood.Skin.Mind. They released the Idiosyncrasy EP two years later in 1998, which drew the attention of Roadrunner Records who signed the band in 1999 and released Down To Zero that same year which achieved UK, Euro and US airplay and received critical acclaim.
The One Piece Missing EP was released in 2002, followed by Dirty Music in 2006 which was released as a double disc containing videos and a compilation of older material and previously unreleased tracks. The 2009 release of Dreadnaught saw the band transition from the more rock oriented style they had adapted on recent releases to a crossover/thrash style more akin to their early years.
While there’s been some time between releases, the band have never stopped touring. Averaging up to 15 shows around the country per year and over their long career, Dreadnaught have notched up some notable supports with the likes of Testament, Strapping Young Lad, Nevermore, Paradise Lost, Nickelback, Pitchshifter, Prong and Cathedral to name a few. As well as being regulars on festivals such as Metal United Downunder, Higgos Heavy Cherry, Dead Of Winter Fest, The New Dead Fest, Trendkill Fest and Sonic Forge. Dreadnaught have shared the stage with some great Australian metal bands such as Mortal Sin, Alchemist, King Parrot, Desecrator, Lord, Frankenbok and many more.
In 2013, the band celebrated their 21st Birthday with a mini festival at the Reverance Hotel in Melbourne. The packed out event featured 17 of Australia’s current heavy bands and some old favourites.
