The Southern River Band New Single “One of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone)”
WA rock’n’roll smashers The Southern River Band release affecting new single “One Of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone)” as new album Easier Said Than Done lands in full force today via Civilians.
This time, The Southern River Band are swinging straight for the heart with the melancholy, country-tinged “One Of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone)”. Serving as the album’s closing track, it’s the first song vocalist-guitarist Cal Kramer ever wrote back in 2014, finally making its way onto a record over a decade later. Raw, reflective and loaded with soul, it’s a rare glimpse into the origin point of the band.
“If you ever need a release valve opened on your tear ducts, give this one a go and report back,” offers Cal Kramer.
Recorded in Byron Bay with Grammy-winning producer Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), Easier Said Than Done is the 12-track, pedal to the metal ride through The Southern River Band’s rock’n’roll universe where you’ll find serious talent and musicianship under the cheeky demeanour and that herculean mullet.
Where the album’s previous singles flexed their muscle for riff-driven swagger – the bluesy romp of “All Over Town“, Bernard Fanning-penned earworm “No Such Time” and the payday punch-in-the-face of “F**k You, Pay Me” – “One Of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone)” proves The Southern River Band can hit just as hard emotionally as they do sonically. On the album, The Note Mag said “The Southern River Band are a force to be reckoned with,” while Metal Roos adds: “The album’s flow is tight, dynamic, and deliberate, each track another cold one cracked open at the world’s best backyard gig.”
“I believe in this band above all else and everybody in it. It is a real brotherhood and we’re not chasing fame or anything like that, we are just chasing being the best band that we can be and having the best time that we can have doing it,” adds Kramer.
“It’s a body of work that needs to be listened to as an album, which I think we’re really proud of. You can look at it and say we tried to do this and to my ear that’s what we f**king did.”
