Yng Martyr ‘Chalant’ Album Out Now

One of Australia’s most exciting rising forces in rap, YNG Martyr returns with his highly anticipated sophomore album CHALANT, alongside the chaotic, high-energy official video for ‘BODYCOUNT (FEAT. 1900 Rugrat)’.

Marking a defining new chapter, the album sees YNG Martyr step away from the detached cool that often dominates hip-hop, instead inviting listeners directly into his world – unfiltered, playful, and unapologetically himself.

“CHALANT is about owning the things I grew up on and not filtering myself to fit into what rap is ‘supposed’ to be. It pulls from gaming, internet culture, and everything that shaped me, but pushes it into something that still hits hard in a modern context.”

Where 2022’s Lovesick introduced his world, CHALANT expands it – built from a place of confidence, clarity and creative freedom. The album leans into underground sounds like rage and jerk, while sharpening the lyrical edge and cultural awareness that have become his calling card.

Leading the release is ‘BODYCOUNT (FEAT. 1900 RUGRAT)’, one of the album’s most explosive moments – loud, synth-heavy and designed to hit at full volume.

“‘BODYCOUNT’ is one of the most high-energy moments on the album. Loud, synth-heavy, and built to hit hard in the whip which is where we listened to it the most. Getting 1900 Rugrat on it was crazy too, because he contrasts me in almost every way; delivery, accent and energy, but we both sit in that same space of flex and f****** around with our bars, which makes the record feel more unique to me.”

The accompanying video dives even deeper into the CHALANT universe, a chaotic, nostalgia-fuelled, gaming-inspired world anchored by a surreal, Halo-inspired visual concept.

“With the ‘BODYCOUNT’ video, we went all in on the CHALANT world; gaming, nostalgia, and being unapologetically into what you’re into. Halo felt like the perfect backdrop because it’s so iconic, and flipping it into this performance-driven, absurd version of itself was insane. Getting 1900 Rugrat to pull up and be in the video just made the whole thing feel even more chaotic in the best way. It’s not what people would expect, and that’s kind of the point. It’s fun, it’s weird, and it fully leans into the world we’ve built with CHALANT.”

CHALANT pulls from everything that’s shaped YNG Martyr – gaming, internet culture, and the references he’s grown up on – and turns it into some of his most fun and authentic music yet. From flips on Kelis’ ‘MILKSHAKES’ and Kelly Clarkson’s ‘SINCE U BEEN GONE’, to fan favourites like ‘GEEKD’ and ‘REAL GEEK’, it all feeds into a world that feels both nostalgic and completely his own.

The album was crafted alongside longtime collaborator and producer/engineer REYKO!, who played a central role in shaping its sound. It brings together a global cast of collaborators, with production from Synthetic (Yeat, Lil Uzi Vert), 4x Grammy Award-winner Joey Barrios, Trenton Kyle (Destroy Lonely, ian), and Ukrainian producer Shipy, while Grammy Award-winning mix engineer Teezio (Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow) delivered the final polish – resulting in a project that feels as global in its creation as it is cohesive in its vision.

The album arrives off the back of a strong run of singles, all of which signalled a shift away from mystique toward a more open, front-footed era for Martyr. Support has followed across CADA, triple j and iHeartRadio’s TikTok Trending, alongside media support from Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Ones To Watch and more.

Looking ahead, 2026 is set to be his biggest year yet, with the momentum continuing globally – marked by an iconic performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre alongside bbno$ and Oliver Tree.

At its core, CHALANT is a statement of self, a reminder that leaning into who you are will always land harder than playing it safe.
