Mondo Freaks Release “Put Your Hand in My Hand” Ahead of Debut Album

Melbourne outfit Mondo Freaks drop one more taster ahead of their anticipated debut self-titled album, which arrives on October 17^th on their own Every Star Records. Saving up their most inspiring track for last, “Put Your Hand In My Hand” is a mid-tempo Funk standout from the Melbourne ten piece, with Jade MacRae delivering maybe her most impassioned vocal yet.

Breaking from their live centric visuals, the video for the track is an animated clip inspired by ‘80s fantasy television by Andy Bull, the acclaimed Australian musician who has lately been working as an illustrator and animator has been a fan of Mondo Freaks for some time.

“I love this song, I loved animating this video and I’m glad to be a part of the Mondo Freaks world”, said Andy when asked about working on this clip. “The visual language of ‘80s fantasy television gave me a way to tell a story that looks a little wonky but ultimately is about colour and music. The world that “Put You Hand In My Hand” comes from, it brought to mind this era of animation and tells a story about hope and love overcoming the forces of wanton destruction.”

The album will be launched in their hometown of Melbourne on December 12th at Howler in Brunswick. Special guests are masters of vintage Afro Disco and Psychedelic Boogie, Wrong Way Up and helping turn the night well and truly into a party, Northside DJs will be playing through the night. Mondo Freaks managed to gather a raft of new fans after playing Wonder Mountain Festival in regional Victoria in early September. The sold out festival also featured Ella Thompson, Intrermood, Mudrat, Myles Macand many more.

Formed by the rhythm section of in demand session bassist Luke Hodgson and drummer Graeme Pogson (GL, The Bamboos) Mondo Freaks feature many of the best vocalists and players from the fertile Melbourne Soul scene. Word is starting to spread globally on the band with airplay, playlist support and acclaim coming from the USA, UK, Italy, France and across Europe.

As with all previous singles, the track was mixed by Grammy winner Michael Brauer, who made his name mixing countless Rn’B classics from the likes of Change, BB&Q Band, Was (Not Was), Gwen Guthrie, Grace, Jones, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Pleasure, Cheryl Lynn, Cerrone, Jones Girls, Kid Creole, Teddy Pendegrass, Morris Day and many more.
