Celebrating a decade since the phenomenal online groundswell that brought us the haunting debut album Sometimes (2005), singer-songwriter Dallas Green, aka City and Colour, follows last year’s critically-acclaimed tour of marathon band performances with his stripped back Concert Hall debut – taking the stage solo with his crystalline falsetto, life-defining lyrics, and the songbook of soul-searching offerings that brought us the Nashville-born sweep of 2013’s The Hurry and the Harm (Dine Alone Records).

Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at the Sydney Opera House said,

City and Colour struck Australia like lightning in 2012 – now we’re proud to welcome him to the Opera House. His warm, elegiac, bare-bones work will resonate beautifully in the Concert Hall this winter.

Described as ‘The bleeding heart this generation has been waiting for’ (Herald Sun), the Canadian singer-songwriter has flourished from bedroom-recorded beginnings to sharing an open-book intimacy inspired by his own deeply-driven struggles to cathartic effect. Echoing the rustic edges of fellow countryman Neil Young whilst supporting the likes of Bob Dylan, City and Colour‘s pin-drop silences and heart-bruised live renditions have garnered an unending love on Australian shores. From introducing the Little Hell hit single ‘Fragile Bird‘ to the world through Triple J, to fulfilling last year’s statement to Sydney audiences that ‘if you promise me you’ll always be here, I’ll always come back’.

Now returning for a career-celebrating Opera House debut in the epic setting of the Concert Hall, Dallas Green will guide audiences through his most panoramic release yet whilst taking City and Colour back to where it all began in classic, intimate form.
