White Summer – “Head In The Sand”
For just a three piece they sure make one hell of a racket; Melbourne based White Summer drop their latest blues infused, distortion drenched Head In The Sand off their recent What I’ve Been Waiting For EP.
Stanfield’s sharp growling vocals cut through a warm driving bass line and a guitar sound that’s chunkier than your Nan’s beef stew, to create this gritty-as-all-hell head-banger.
Head In The Sand is a triumphant follow up to their 2012 release, Dirty Highway and its one that guarantees to get your trousers moving. There’s nothing overbearingly complicated about this ‘Black Keys -esk’ track but complexity was never its intention. Its music for that grimy bar with beer soaked carpets and longhaired punters. Hard, fast and pure, these boys are keeping it old school.
