Timothy Nelson & The Infidels New Album & Tour

Hot off the back of an impressive 7 WA Music Awards (WAMi) nominations, including ‘Best Live Act’ and ‘Best Album’, Perth locals, Timothy Nelson & The Infidels have announced the release of their new single, All The People (out November 7) and new album, Terror Terror, Hide It Hide It set for official release on November 14.

The band will be promoting their new goods with national tour dates including Old Bar (MEL) on November 14, Brighton Up Bar (SYD) on November 19, Revolver (MEL) on November 20 and Connections Nightclub (PER) on November 21.

Widely known as Perth’s folk n roll darlings, Timothy Nelson & The Infidels are refusing to be pigeon holed in to specific genres and are now exploring their musical style within the pop world. Current single, All The People is the perfect example of this new direction – an upbeat, indie electro pop track with an instant hook and a catchy melody that’ll have you toe-tapping and singing along on first listen. “The song is about letting the night take you where it pleases and not necessarily for the better,” explains Timothy Nelson. When asked to describe their sound, Nelson enthuses, “Imagine if Supertramp got lost on their way to a rave in Manchester!”

Shot over two Perth locations and directed by Steve Browne (Perth street artist responsible for the infamous banned youtube video for Scalphunter’s ‘There Will Be Change’) the video clip for All The People follows a quirky narrative that complements the song’s lyrics. “We wanted to base it around the idea of a big night out taking a turn for the worse. My character is drifting through some party in a strange place, and he sees all these weird characters that no one else can see… it’s sort of a downward spiral of hallucinogenic proportions,” explains Nelson.

Two years in the making and produced & engineered by long time friend Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe), Nelson reflects on how the project came about. “Joel and I talked about doing something together for ages. We’d be at a friend’s bucks night or something and end up playing demos to each other and arguing about music. Quite anti-social of us really, but it resulted in us getting together to make an album and in a sense; Joel kind of joined the band during that period.”

True to both single and album, Nelson explains, “The music itself gets quite dancey, but the subject matter is pretty dark. There are a lot of references to addiction, anxiety and just generally self-destructive behaviour. The songs are about working through all that stuff, trying to get to other side and be okay.”

Made up of a six-piece band who rove the stage skipping across different instruments, there’s no wonder the Timothy Nelson & The Infidels’ live show is a must see.
