Pavement Reveal Supports For Australian Tour

Pavement Reveal Supports For Australian Tour

Some of Australia’s most exciting bands join the US indie icons on their 2023 dates: Bad//Dreems, Floodlights, Pond, Rolling Blackouts C.F. & Romero.

After a decade-long hiatus, seminal US rockers Pavement return to Australia for the first time in 12 years in Feb/Mar 2023. Now – with their Melbourne show already sold out and dates in Thirroul and Sydney (NSW) not far behind – it’s time to reveal the very special guests joining the ‘Cut Your Hair’ and ‘Range Life’ five-piece across six headline shows…

Perth: currently on tour throughout North America, the irrepressible, prolific Fremantle psych-rockers Pond have released nine studio albums to date, their most recent offering 9 earning a deluxe re-issue mid-2022. Led by Nick Allbrook and Jay Watson, “the most exciting band in Australia and beyond” [Scenestr] will join Pavement as special guest in Pond’s hometown… this is one bill you don’t want to miss!

Adelaide: Mighty SA four-piece Bad//Dreems are currently readying their fourth album, which is set for release in early 2023. With more than 10 years behind them and headline tours across the US, UK and Australia – not to mention gigs alongside Midnight Oil, The Avalanches, The Scientists, Cold Chisel and Sunnyboys – the take-no-prisoners rockers will bring their biblical live show to the Thebarton Theatre, as special guest with Pavement.

Brisbane: Melbourne quintet Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever delivered their acclaimed third album Endless Rooms in May 2022, the band’s renowned chemistry yet again on display. Critically praised across the globe and with countless sold-out tours across Australia, UK, Europe, and Nth America across their career, this is a rare chance for QLD fans to catch one of AU’s finest acts alongside the indie icons, when RBCF hit the stage at Fortitude Music Hall.

Thirroul/Sydney: First gaining global attention in 2019 with their debut sold-out EP Backyard, followed by 2020 debut album From A View, Melbourne four-piece Floodlights explore themes of personal turbulence, national identity and the Australian landscape as a form of escapism. Recent single ‘Human’ is out now and their third album is due in 2023. The band joined Vegas rockers The Killers in the Barossa Valley this month. Catch them on stage in Thirroul and Sydney.

Melbourne: Romero’s debut full length, Turn It On!, is a burst of hard hitting, punk laced power-pop, well informed by classic rockers but armed with a dose of excitement for what’s to come. Inspired by everyone from The Strokes to Royal Headache, with 2022 bringing profiles on Pitchfork (“songs that are as sticky as a barroom floor”) and a just-completed EU/UK tour, Romero return to their hometown to play in support of Pavement in early March.

Final tickets to the remaining Pavement shows with all these special guests above are on sale now, via frontiertouring.com/pavement. A long time in the making, Pavement’s AU run is a must-see… grab your tickets before they’re gone!
