Fanny Lumsden Announces Capital City Tour for February

Multi-award-winning artist Fanny Lumsden has confirmed plans for a national tour, commencing in February to hit all capital cities. This exciting announcement follows the release of her new single “Look At Me Now” and comes just weeks after a successful European tour and her current national arena tour with beloved singer songwriter, Paul Kelly.

Kicking off in Perth on February 6, Fanny and her band The Prawn Stars will traverse the country with shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, wrapping the tour in Canberra on February 21.

Fanny said today, “We have had the time of our lives opening for Paul Kelly and Lucinda Williiams around Australia, and playing so many incredible shows through Europe and the UK that we couldn’t help but keep the joy going and bring our very fun/silly show filled with incredible musicianship and harmonies by my band, stories and joy to cities around the country. Plus, we have so many new songs and stories to share!”

Fanny’s recent shows in Europe included a triumphant 23-date headline tour, a sold-out Country Halls tour in Scotland, no less than 7 festivals plus a support slot with fellow Australian singer songwriter Paul Kelly. Her performances garnered praise with local press with the UK’s Entertainment Focus choosing her as one of its Top Ten highlights following her opening set on the main stage at the prestigious The Long Road Festival in Leicestershire, quoting “It’s obvious she loves the UK audience… and that feeling seemed very much mutual, so I hope it won’t be too long until she’s back.” Country In The UK, in its Ones To Watch feature, stated: “the most uplifting set that you will see all weekend which is guaranteed to put the biggest smile on your face.” She was also chosen for the BBC’s live coverage from Belladrum Festival in Scotland. At the conclusion of her extensive European touring schedule, Fanny then immediately jumped onto a plane to head home to Australia for her opening slot on Paul Kelly’s Antipodean Arena Tour with Lucinda Williams – with her reputation as “the hardest working woman in showbiz” firmly intact!

Pre-sale commences Wednesday, September 10 at 9am local time and fans can pre-register here.

General public tickets are on sale Friday, September 12 at 9am local time. Head to fannylumsden.net for all information.

Fanny has also unveiled a lyric video for her new single “Look at Me Now”

Co-produced by Matt Fell, Dan Stanley Freeman and Fanny, the track is a reflection on her musical journey so far and was recorded whilst on the road in Europe, featuring her live band The Prawn Stars.  (Single out now)

Fanny said of the new single: “This is a love letter to my younger self. The amount of “no’s” I experienced in this industry is wild and every single one I am grateful for because they made me the person and artist I am today. Not the wins but all the losses, the struggles and the hard moments. I think it’s also a reminder that ‘success’ can be an illusion and really you can find success in every step along the way. It’s a cliche but I’m feeling reflective and grateful that I can still be driving the van, self-managed, doing my own make up in the rear-view mirror and yet doing the biggest shows of my career all at the same time.”

“I wanted this song to feel real and hopeful and authentic to my live band who do all the miles with me and load the van and see the lows as well as the highs. Recording it was a crazy process of fitting in recording sessions whilst on the road. So, we are very grateful to Matt Fell for wielding his magic and helping us make it happen.”

BIO

Growing up on a sheep farm in western NSW all the way to Glastonbury UK via hundreds of Country Halls throughout regional Australia, 2x ARIA and 9x Golden Guitar, 3x AIR award winning artist Fanny Lumsden’s journey has been a unique one.  Having “established herself as one of the one of the genre’s most esteemed performers” (The Australian) and with her fourth album HEY DAWN having taken the 2023 ARIA for Best Country Album, the CMAA Golden Guitar for Alt-Country Album of the Year and 2024 Country Album of the year at the AIR Awards, Fanny is a force to be reckoned with.  Debuting at #1 on the Australian Album ARIA charts, it was the 4th highest selling country album of 2023 and her second album in a row to crack the ARIA Albums Chart top 10 (main chart).

Fanny is continuing to break the rules and confirm herself as “undoubtedly the brightest new (country) star of the current era” (Capital News).

Following her “breakthrough” album Fallow which took ARIA and AIR Country Album Awards plus five CMAA Golden Guitars in 2020 Fanny went on to be the only Australian Country Artist to play Glastonbury when she and her band the Prawn Stars packed Avalon Stage in 2023. She has then gone on to build a hugely loyal following across the UK and Ireland the old fashioned way.

Recognised for her DIY and trail blazing spirit shown by her regional Country Halls Tour where she has taken her joyous, energetic, and brilliant live show to over 300 halls across Australia, NZ and recently wrapping her second through the Scottish highlands.

Fanny has appeared on numerous television shows, including Spicks and Specs,  Rockwiz, Play School Showtime, and The Set. She is also a Board member of Sound NSW, a Support Act Advocate, a Volunteer firefighter, and a documentary filmmaker. Fanny was named the 2021 Hume shire Local Woman of the Year, runs her own Record Label and Production company, Red Dirt Road, with her husband, Dan Stanley Freeman.

Having just returned from Europe where she opened for Paul Kelly and then completed a 22 date headline tour, her and the band will go straight into opening for Paul Kelly and Lucinda Williams on an Arena tour around Australia.

Fanny firmly operates in her own lane and every turn “confirms Fanny as a distinctive storyteller, and an indelible personality who can win over fans in or outside of country music” (Doug Wallan, The Australian)

“There are certain visionary artists forging new paths and reinventing what popular music looks and sounds like. Fanny Lumsden is one such artist, delivering a compelling blend of stagecraft, storytelling, and musical prowess that has mesmerised audiences all over the world”
