Buck Meek To Tour Australia This March
Buck Meek, lead guitarist of Big Thief, and a solo Artist in his own right, brings his music to Australia this March.
Touring the East Coast with his band, BUCK MEEK shares his soulful songs that will delight all music fans, transporting audiences to the environmental landscapes that inspired his third solo album Haunted Mountain.
Buck Meek says that love songs are the hardest songs to write. “Not break-up songs, but an actual love song written in earnest? That is taboo now,” he says. “Sometimes it can feel like all the great love songs have already been written.”
Haunted Mountain is about love and… something other. Something bigger than love, something that doesn’t challenge love exactly but stands in contrast to it. A soulfulness, or a soul seeking fullness.
This outstanding collection of songs was written by Buck as he ventured across mountains and ranges, from the cold springs in the Serra da Estrela of Portugal, to the submerged volcano of Milos in the Cyclades, and the Valle Onsernone in the Swiss Alps, through to the Santa Monica range the legendary singer/songwriter and magnificent guitarist now calls home.
Buck Meek believes that all of the great love songs have not been written yet. In between the lines of Haunted Mountain, we hear that love, in every form, is the creation of home, from within – forever leaving one to find another.
When Love Police toured Big Thief across Australia in 2022, audiences were struck by the delicate musicianship of the band. Now we’re back in business with Buck Meek touring the country with his own band, sharing those mind-blowing songs and stories in a new adventure around Australia.
Buck Meek and his band will also support Cat Power at Festival Hall Melbourne. For all other shows he will be sharing the stage with LA-based singer, songwriter and science fiction lover Germaine Dunes.
