Regurgitator Announce Units a National Tour Celebrating Their Iconic 1997 Album Unit

Regurgitator announce UNITS – 25 YEARS OF UNIT IN ONE ELECTRIC STREAM OF SOUND AND COLOUR touring the nation in celebration of their iconic 1997 album, which will be played in full, in all its pixelated density, along with an extended set of hits.

Returning for the national tour will be UNIT-era Regurgitator keytarist Shane Rudken, along with the Ken Weston turning up the multi-dimensional in an ocular sense on full-pixel visuals.

Joined in the moment by a veritable legion of musical cohorts featuring DZ Deathrays, Custard, Butterfingers and Glitoris. The pixel’s gonna shine one more time nationwide!

UNITS – Code for rhymes. Products of time.

There just is. The parameters come defined by a myriad vista of zeros and ones… on and off… decisions and choices – some more than others. The input activated signals all hail the storm of pixelations that cascade across dream screens flashwashing our minds with saturated sound and colour. The pixel rains supreme like a solar fractal fragmenting the silver streams we skim our daily way through… building blocks to chain the virtuality and crave a mass of neon ear worms infest shifting plates of the seismic psyche. Just go with it. We are all units.

In a world stood prone before portals comes a veritable electric stream of bits – 25 years of UNIT in one moment of sound and colour. Music is waves.

DZ DEATHRAYSDZ Deathrays are a band that started out playing house parties, and have ended up as one of the most recognizable and loved rock acts in modern Australian music. It’s not every day that a band gets stronger and more popular with time, but that’s exactly what’s happened over the 13 years they’ve been thrashing out songs. Members Shane Parsons, Simon Ridley and Lachlan Ewbank have had a world of experiences, as the band has released five records, won two ARIA Awards, been nominated for two more ARIAs, toured the world countless times, have supported The Foo Fighters on stadium tours, and have even collaborated with a Wiggle.

Their songs are beloved by their fans, with two tracks having made it into triple j’s Hottest 100. They’ve been festival-favourites in Australia, having performed multiple times at Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and others. A DZ Deathrays live show is something you can never forget; with spine-tingling guitar drones, and an eye-melting light show that washes over your senses, it’s no wonder they’ve been headlining rooms as big as The Tivoli, the Enmore and the Forum. 2012 will see new music yet again, because with these guys, the party never dies.

CUSTARD

Combining science, aesthetics and microphone technique, few bands can sum up the current socioeconomic malaise like Brisvegas stalwarts Custard. Bringing together their love of psychology with a passion for social media, Custard have long been regarded as the Microsoft Word of Australian indie rock.

Colloquially known as the “Politburo of Pop”, Custard are highly regarded amongst their remaining peers for their “no-nonsense” approach to songwriting and “winner takes all” touring strategies. Confidently lounging upon a swollen back catalogue of universal hits like “Sinatra Theory” and “Piece Of Shit”, this is global rock and roll presented in a distinctly suburban framework. A brand new Custard album, tentatively titled “Email” is due out sometime before the end of the decade. Tense up!

BUTTERFINGERS

Butterfingers, the Australian hip hop group from Brisbane, has a knack for writing tongue-in-cheek rhymes over super funky beats. With their latest album, Bad News, the band showcases their signature sound, which has garnered them critical acclaim and multiple award nominations. From their first two singles in 2003, “Everytime” and “I Love Work,” which landed in the Triple J Hottest 100, to their recent release in 2020, Butterfingers has proven their staying power in the industry. Lead vocalist ‘Evil’ Eddie Mark Jacobson, samples/percussionist Olly Thomas, bassist Steele Chabau and drummer Tony McCall provide a tight foundation for the band’s witty lyrics, which often poke fun at the mundanity of everyday life.

Butterfingers continues to delight fans with their unique brand of hip hop and their latest album is no exception.

GLITORIS

Fast, furious, frenetic, fun and femme \*/ GLITORIS are back and ready to set 2023 alight with yet more political punk rock badassery. Fresh out of the studio after recording their sophomore album with Anna Laverty (Nick Cave, Camp Cope), the Glitz blend their indelible brand of harmony-laden heaviness, art rock musicianship, theatrical antics and sardonic political swipes, all wrapped up in the loudest, boldest, glittering rainbow \*/

With releases including ‘The Disgrace EP’ (2016) and ‘The Policy’ (2018), Glitoris has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most fearlessly political, uncompromising and unforgettable artists, and ‘One of the fiercest live forces in the country’ (Pile Rats). Widely received singles including ‘Trump Card’ (2016) and ‘The Policy’ (2018) elevated Glitoris to the national stage as a musical force to be reckoned with, and their unapologetic hard rock anthem ‘Slut Power’ (2020)–a raging rallying call dealing with the insidious nature of violence against women–was received to widespread critical acclaim, Winners of the NLMA’s Hard Rock Live Act of the Year (2019), Glitoris have since been crowned the undisputed ‘Queens of Australian Punk’ (Tone Deaf, The Brag). Glitoris are Keven 007 (vocals and guitar), Mickey (drums and vocals), Malcolm (bass guitar and vocals) and Andrew (lead guitar and vocals). Dedicated to social justice, Glitoris began as a protest about the missing women in the music industry and its obsession with youth and body image. Glitoris has since consistently used their platform to bring attention to issues and grassroots organisations in the LGBTQI+, Indigenous and environmental spheres.
