Melbourne’s Day Dreamers Announce Self-titled EP

Establishing themselves as one of Melbourne’s exciting new rock forces, DAY DREAMERS take another empowered stride into 2026, announcing a brand new, self-titled, EP project. The DAY DREAMERS collection of sounds captures a period of growth for the group: a maturation in sound, but an elevation in energy and chemistry.

Music that hits hard, music that represents a rebirth of the band, DAY DREAMERS proves an exciting release from the group and as a taste of what is to come, they’ve shared a brand new single, titled ‘WRECKAGE’.

Recorded between Melbourne’s iconic Sing Sing Studios and Zak Rakitic’s home set up, ‘Wreckage’ plays perfectly to the wider EP’s themes of chaos, uncertainty and finding yourself and your tribe through it all. As guitarist Daniel Lee explains, “With all the chaos, uncertainty, and oppressive violence that’s going on throughout the world right now, we were consciously aware of how lucky we are to get to use what time we have to create and so it should mean more to us than anything we’d done and reflect where we are right now.”

The heavy and alternative influences that have been central to Day Dreamers’ sound to date remain, yet as the listener can hear on ‘Wreckage’, the influences have sharpened and lands with refreshed impact.

Returning in 2026 with their single ‘BAG OF SAND’, fans were given an early hint of how the next Day Dreamers chapter was shaping up. With ‘Wreckage’, the picture receives a new shade, some new texture to keep things going as the band countdown to the release of the DAY DREAMERS EP on July 1

Recent years have seen Day Dreamers’ profile solidify, with sold out shows in Melbourne and wider touring around the East Coast in 2025 bringing the band to more audiences. Their music has received consistent industry support across both triple j and Triple J Unearthed, while Australian community radio has also boosted Day Dreamers’ profile in an enthusiastic way.

As their catalogue continues to grow, with over 80k streams on Spotify alone, the band’s indie/alternative sound courts more attention. Propelling further into 2026, Day Dreamers anticipate one of their biggest years yet – the release of the DAY DREAMERS EP is the next exciting step.

PRAISE

“Sophisticated, angular, low-fi indie college rock that bubbles with a fusion of alternative and grunge tones, there’s also an indie pop sensibility to the melody that demands shoulder shimmies and head snaps.”

SCENESTR

“Melbourne’s Day Dreamers turn chaos into catharsis with ‘y2k’. Punchy and apocalyptic, it captures the modern doomscroll feeling – where every headline feels like the end of the world.”

HAPPY MAGAZINE

“Wow. Seriously. As a millennium baby and a hardcore Turnstile fan, ‘y2k’ was made for me.”
