Listen To Gordi’s “Nothing’s As It Seems”

Sydney’s GORDI is proud to announce her new single “Nothing’s As It Seems” is available to stream ahead of its independent release tomorrow.

Premiering worldwide via Who The Hell, The Line Of Best Fit and Hilly Dilly, “Nothing’s As It Seems” is an upbeat and playfully earnest track tamed by a hushed, wintery contour, recorded in Melbourne with producer Benjamin McCarthy (Megan Washington, Kate Miller-Heidke), and the first taste of new music from Gordi since her 2013 Away EP.

Growing up on a farm in Regional NSW, 21 year old Gordi is now a bone fide Sydneysider, writing music while squeezing in medicine studies at university. Surviving on a diverse musical diet including classic folk icons like Carole King, Paul Kelly and Joni Mitchell and their modern counterparts in The Tallest Man on Earth, Ásgeir and Laura Marling, the candour in Gordi’s music and vocal texture is at once fractured and brimming with richness, leaving “Nothing’s As It Seems” an effortlessly memorable tune, as much for the hooky melody as for its distinctive musical feel.

As Gordi (pronounced with a hard ‘G’, for clarity’s sake) looks towards the tail end of 2014 and her next EP (planned for an early 2015 release), she will be performing a string of shows in support of “Nothing’s As It Seems” including the Official Single Launch at Goodgod Small Club on Wednesday October 22nd and support slots for Steve Smyth and Husky. No stranger to the live circuit, Gordi has previously supported the likes of Dustin Tebbutt, Saskwatch and more, including a sold-out Away EP Launch at The Vanguard in November last year.

Nothing’s As It Seems” is released independently on Friday October 3rd.
