Show You Give A Buck For The St Kilda Festival
Australia’s largest music festival, the 34th St Kilda Festival, has launched a fundraising campaign to encourage festival-lovers to show their support for the annual community celebration of music, arts and culture.
Titled ‘Show you give a buck,’ the inaugural campaign inspires passionate festival fans to ‘kick in so we can kick on’ by offering a wide range of merchandise and memento items for purchase.
The St Kilda Festival has been proudly produced by the City of Port Phillip for the past 34 years and the ‘Show you give a buck’ campaign demonstrates the Council’s commitment to seeing the Festival continue as a summer tradition.
Festival Producer, Adele Denison, says with music festivals under pressure across Australia, the fundraising initiative is a positive step to make the St Kilda Festival a more financially sustainable event.
“The St Kilda Festival’s new fundraising campaign ‘Show you give a buck’ is a great way for everyone to show their appreciation for the event with all funds going directly towards the nine-day event.
“We encourage the community to get behind the initiative. A small contribution from festival fans will make a big difference to helping us stage this iconic cultural celebration annually,”
said Ms Denison.
A great range of items displaying a mix of historic and iconic images of St Kilda are available starting at $2.00 including t-shirts, tank tops, drink holders, hats, calico bags, badges, magnets and wristbands.
To show support before the event, items can be pre-purchased online from the St Kilda Festival website or alternatively at Festival Sunday on Sunday 9 February from roaming sellers and four large merchandise tents.
While merchandise sales boosts funds, St Kilda Festival welcomes new event partners on board to support the 2014 St Kilda Festival in iSelect, Channel Seven, Crocs™, Mövenpick Ice Cream and Spotify.
The nine-day event opens with Yalukit Wilum Ngargee: People Place Gathering in O’Donnell Gardens on Saturday 1 February, featuring Yirrmal and the Yolngu Boys and headliner Buddy Knox Blues Band. Expanding to South Melbourne and Port Melbourne for the first time, the Live N Local program will see more than 72 gigs in 32 venues across Port Phillip from Sunday 2 to Saturday 8 February.
The 34th St Kilda Festival culminates with the iconic Festival Sunday on Sunday 9 February, featuring headline performances from Art vs. Science and Alison Wonderland along with a range of activities and entertainment.
The St Kilda Festival is produced and presented by the City of Port Phillip and supported by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria. For further information please visit www.stkildafestival.com.au.
