Life Pilot Drop New Single “The Nerve”
Long running Adelaide five piece, Life Pilot are back with their new single, The Nerve.
Going for your throat from the opening riff, The Nerve is about adjusting to a life without the partner you envisioned spending the rest of it with. The inevitable throes of ending years of hard effort and emotional investment. Feeling free, yet lost without them and trying to recall the person you once were.

What happens when you combine one part Metalcore band, one part Aunty Donna skit with one part Jackass Stunt? You get Life Pilot’s new video for The Nerve.
Inspired by the iconic Jackass roller-disco truck skit, Life Pilot pays homage to the MTV stunt team by piling themselves into a moving van and doing their best to play their song while vocalist Angus Long takes the band on an unwitting drive.
The result? Pure chaos.
Filmed and edited by bass player Nicholas Evans, The Nerve is a true showcase of Life Pilot’s DIY ethos.
“I got the idea after rewatching all the Jackass movies one weekend. I thought “That looks like fun, and surely the safety warnings they give are all for show. How bad could it be?” – says Drummer, Eli Green.
Turns out, quite painful. As the band found themselves crashing into walls, careening in to one another and being knocked to the ground over and over.
“It was actually quite terrifying once those van doors were closed and things started moving.
We really got our asses kicked.”
The band’s absurd comedy styling is also on display in the video. A lengthy story skit written by vocalist Angus Long at the front of the video explains how the band ends up stuck in the van the singer unwittingly taking them for calming drive after a fight with a sleazy venue manager.
“We wanted to poke fun at some of the insane reasons people in the industry have given us to pay us less than they should have, or not at all. And at the same time, have some fun improvising some absurd comedy as send ups of our own bizarre character selves.”
The Nerve video will premiere on Life Pilot’s YouTube channel this Saturday.

These releases garnered much attention around the country from Triple J, Local Radio, Blunt Magazine, Channel V, RAGE, numerous blogs and street press outlets, as well as artist features in Australian Guitar and DrumScene magazine and finalist nods in the South Australian Music Awards for best music video.
Life Pilot has toured Australia multiple times in support of their numerous releases, sharing the stage with many legendary artists along the way. Every Time I Die, Hell Yeah, Converge, Norma Jean, Senses Fail, Kverletak & More, as well as performing at SoundWave Festival and showcasing at BIGSOUND.
2024 sees a new era for Life Pilot. A darker, heavier showing, but also a more melodic side of the band. With a new single ‘Feeding An Illness’ just released and their debut self titled record on the horizon, Life Pilot is set to show their might once more.
The forthcoming album is an exploration into feelings of despair, struggle, and isolation, often reflecting on personal and societal issues. It critiques authority and societal norms, expressing disillusionment and frustration. Mental and emotional struggles are a constant thread in the lyrics, with mentions of addiction and escapism. Despite the darkness, there is a strong sense of rebellion and defiance. Through the music, the album invites you to confront life’s challenges head on and find solidarity in shared experiences.
