Farmer & The Owl Festival Announce Spin City Record Fair
Farmer & The Owl Festival is a gathering for music lovers, a community united and ignited by diverse and unique artists, showcasing your favourites and new discoveries with unforgettable live performances.
Indie record label fair Spin City returns in 2020. Featuring 14 of Australia’s most loved indie record labels, who collectively showcase some of the most important driving forces in Australia’s independent music scene. Hosting individual stalls so punters can peruse and purchase products from the label’s whole catalogue, as well as limited edition items and associated merch, Spin City is a music nerd and rarity collectors wet dream!
The soundtrack for Spin City will be provided by said labels, with Spunk Records, Third Eye Stimuli, Rice Is Nice, Sweat It Out, Bargain Bin and Elefant Tracks hitting the decks for your listening pleasure.
Meet the labels wheeling and dealing at Spin City…….
Geelong-based label Anti Fade Records started out with the intention to release a compilation of local acts, as well as 7” and LP releases from local bands like The Frowning Clouds & The Living Eyes. In 2015 the first annual Jerkfest was held at the Barwon Club in Geelong, which still runs every summer and a great time is had by all, hosting the likes of Robyn Hitchcock, The Rebel, Amyl & The Sniffers over the last 3 years.
Bedroom Suck is a Brisbane born label that provides and avenue for independent, like-minded artists to record, release and distribute their music to a global audience. The label has worked with artists such as Blank Realm, Boomgates, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, Terrible Truths, Lower Plenty and many more.
Created in 1983, Citadel quickly developed a roster featuring some of the 80’s most prominent indie bands. Following its inception, the label has continued facing the many ups and downs that a non-mainstream industry aligned label must face; encroachment by bigger and more moneyed interests, the death of vinyl and the
coming of the CD and most recently the digital age. Musical tastes have changed, and the scene now belongs to the young. But still, Citadel is alive – albeit more through relevant reissues and a large dose of bloody-mindedness.
Founded in 1998 in order to put a compilation of tracks together to farewell a mutual friend moving overseas, Elefant Traks has always been about community and friendship. The original collection of friends went on to form seminal Australian hiphop group The Herd in the early 2000s, and from then started releasing music from outside the group, including Hermitude, Horrorshow, Jimblah, OKENYO, L-FRESH The LION and many more.
I OH YOU is an Australian based music company that acts as a record label, promoter & management arm for some of the world’s most talented & exciting musicians. It was started in late 2009 by four housemates who decided to start throwing house parties to pay off their overdue utility bills.
Music in Exile is a social enterprise aimed at increasing access to resources and building professional networks for artists from a migrant or diaspora background working in the music industry. We aim to use the resources at our disposal to collaborate with artists and share their incredible stories; exploring new pathways for career development and encouraging conversation around the accessibility of our music scene.

expanding local collective offering record label, artist management and merchandise services; and a
recently completed music studio BellBird. Home to Airling, Christopher Port, #1 Dads, Tom Snowdon, Slow Dancer and No Mono.
Born in a Melbourne share house in the early 2000’s, Poison City Records has grown and evolved into one of Australia’s most prolific and diverse indie labels. Their current roster of artists includes some of the finest gems from the Australian underground – artists such as Cable Ties, Camp Cope, MOD CON, Horror My Friend, HEXDEBT, Flyying Colours, Moody Beaches, Bench Press, Batpiss and Harmony. Poison City also has a Record & Skateboard retail store located in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
Resist Records is a punk and hardcore specialist store located in Marrickville.
Rice Is Nice is an independent record label. Kicking since 2008, we are now based between Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. Rice Is Nice aims to promote artists that are unique and creating work they believe in. Our goals in the industry are based around longevity rather than popularity and we proudly champion honest, committed artistry regardless of genre or style.

Spunk Records started as a fanzine in 1993, putting out six issues before its demise in the late 90s. The fanzine was obsessed by American underground artists like Sebadoh, Pavement, Bonnie Prince Billy, Smog, Guided by Voices and Sonic Youth. Spunk Records began its inception in 1999, and 21 years later has released close to 600 records. Some of those include Sufjan Stevens, The Arcade Fire, Big Thief and Spoon. On a local front, Spunk discovered artists such as Aldous Harding, the Middle East, Jack Ladder and Tiny Ruins.
Born in 2008, Sweat It Out is a Sydney-based record label started by the late and great AJAX. Together, along with our sister label, Club Sweat, we like to make you smile, dance and most importantly Sweat. When we’re not releasing records, we’re throwing our infamous Sweat parties around the world. Sweat for life.
Third Eye Stimuli is a Sydney/Wollongong based record label (Est. 2016) bringing you far out sounds from Australia and abroad. The label’s roster features some of the most exciting new acts including The Jim Mitchells, Rosa Maria, Joe Ghatt (NZ), The Uplifting Bell Ends, Luke Spook, Noodle House, Sunfruits and many more to come. Third Eye Stimuli celebrates an eclectic sonic palette, from psychedelic sounds reminiscent of the late 60s and 70s, to garage rock and Australiana folk, to country twangs and disco pop grooves.
