The Glorious Sons Announce First Australian Tour

Canadian band The Glorious Sons have announced details for their first ever Australian tour.

The five piece, hailing from Kingston, Ontario will bring their special brand of rock swagger to our shores this month supporting Aussie favourites Dead Letter Circus, plus headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The band will be touring in support of their second full-length release Young Beauties & Fools (out now via BMG). Exploring the adventures (and frequent misadventures) of main songwriter Brett Emmons in the truest way, the album captures all the listlessness and confusion of young adulthood in 10 doses of modern rock.

“It’s basically the story of a 24-year-old kid,” says Brett. “They’re simple songs about alcoholism and the mostly autobiographical story of my life. The whole thing is derived from the thoughts, actions and feelings of a kid who doesn’t really know himself and the consequences of those actions.”

The album is spearheaded by the break out single “Everything Is Alright”, a hardscrabble tale about loneliness, and the seemingly endless cycle of living, writing, partying and not making the best decisions. In this song Brett recounts details of an embarrassing wedding punch-up as a way to conceptualize these ideas.

It wasn’t easy to capture the realness of the single. The band wanted to range further and evolve from the successes of 2014’s The Union album. That record was an immediate hit on the Canadian radio rock landscape. Glorious Sons scored nine consecutive Top 10 rock radio tracks, won two SiriusXM Indie Awards (Group of the Year and Rock Group of the Year) and received the Juno Award in 2018 for Rock Album of the Year.

Fast forward to 2018 and The Glorious Sons are on a world tour – taking them through North America, Canada, Germany, France, U.K and now Australia. The band cannot wait to showcase their high-spirited rock and blue collar roots live to new Australian fans.

“You don’t know what you’re going to get night to night from us,” says Brett’s brother (and guitarist) Jay Emmons. “It’s something you have to see and it’s interesting and powerful.”

“We’re excited to play down under for the first time breaking new ground for the band.” adds Brett.

The Glorious Sons are the main support on Dead Letter Circus’s ‘The Armour You Own’ national single tour and will play two special headline shows in Melbourne (The Spotted Mallard, June 7) and Sydney (The Sly Fox, June 9). All shows on sale now.
